Inspired by the traditional, cultural Dia de los Muertos, Orange sugar portrays a woman with sugar skull makeup with a marigold flower in her hair releasing monarch butterflies. I wanted to create a physical depiction of this sacred day. A day that honors and celebrates those who passed before us. With the marigold flower in her hair, she usher back the souls of the dead (the monarchs) back to land of the living to be connected with their loved ones again.
